"Yes. Foreign Minister Wang Yi now is leading the Chinese delegation to the G20 Foreign Ministers' meeting. This year's foreign ministers' meeting will focus on three major topics: number one the implementation of the 2030 development agenda, second, the maintenance of peace and stability and thirdly, the strengthening of partnership with Africa. I think Minister Wang Yi will deliver a statement on the three topics on those topics and fully express China's positions on these important issues."

And secondly, we want to make sure that the outcomes of the Hangzhou Summit last year could be fully implemented. Last year we have a historical event in Hangzhou. We have a lot of tangible results. We hope that all those nice words, statements could be translated into actions and make a real difference. And thirdly, we would like to take this opportunity to coordinate with other G20 members and to enhance our cooperation to improve the global governance and to tackle the challenges in front of us. So, we would like to work with others to make sure that we have a successful G20 foreign ministers' meeting."

Storyline

China shows support to the German G20 presidency by participating in the foreign ministers’ meeting, according to the spokesperson of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday.

The spokesperson, Geng Shuang, made the remarks during an exclusive interview with China Global Television Network (CGTN) after a regular press release in Beijing.

Noting that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is in Bonn, Germany attending the G20 foreign ministers meeting, the spokesperson said the minister will deliver a statement on the major topics on the meeting and fully express China's position.

"Foreign Minister Wang Yi now is leading the Chinese delegation to the G20 Foreign Ministers' meeting. This year's foreign ministers' meeting will focus on three major topics: number one the implementation of the 2030 development agenda, second, the maintenance of peace and stability and thirdly, the strengthening of partnership with Africa. I think Minister Wang Yi will deliver a statement on the three topics on those topics and fully express China's positions on these important issues," said Geng.

By participating in this foreign ministers' meeting, China would like to, in the first place, show support to the German G20 presidency and work with Germany and others to make sure we have a successive summit in July, Geng noted.

"And secondly, we want to make sure that the outcomes of the Hangzhou Summit last year could be fully implemented. So, we would like to work with others to make sure that we have a successful G20 foreign ministers' meeting," included Geng.
