Storyline

China's industries have made tremendous achievements over the past years since "Made in China 2025 Plan" was implemented in March 2015, and would strive for even greater progress in 2017, said Minister of Industry and Information Technology Miao Wei at a press conference in Beijing on Friday.

"First, the implementation of five major projects (including the construction of manufacturing innovation centers, intelligent manufacturing, enhancing industrial bases, green manufacturing and high-end equipment innovation) has yielded initial results. Second, we have achieved phased progress in landmark projects. Take robot as an example. We have successfully developed China's first flexible composites industrial robot, and has attained an annual capacity of 50. Third, the integrated development of manufacturing plus internet has showed remarkable effects. Our digital design devices and process management have reached a high degree of informatization. Fourth, we have also made initial progress in establishing quality brands building. So far 251 model enterprises have been established in the entire industry," he said.

Miao also outlined the major tasks for promoting Made in China 2025 Plan in 2017.

"First is to continue to intensify our efforts to promote the five projects and the landmark projects. Second is to extend pilot cities of Made in China 2025 plan to wider areas. Third is to launch a new round of technological upgrading and improvement. Fourth, efforts should be made to further improve supporting policies. And the fifth is to conduct pragmatic international cooperation," he said.
