Storyline

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Friday spoke highly of China's role in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and urged all parties to make joint effort for the implementation of the agenda.

Ban made the remarks at the Committee of 100 Global Chinese Philanthropy Symposium in Beijing, where Chinese and American Chinese philanthropists gathered to discuss development of charity activities by global Chinese.

"China is a chief player in our common global efforts for economic, social and environmental progress. The enduring partnership between China and the United Nations is crucially important. I sincerely hope that the enduring partnership between China and the United Nations grow even stronger in years to come," said Ban.

Under the framework of the 2030 agenda, the UN has always been committed to promoting charity events around the world, and values philanthropy's role in world peace and sustainable development.

Ban visited the Beijing 999 Emergency Rescue Center on Friday and learned more about China's medical aid and humanitarian emergency command system.

Earlier on Thursday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with the UN secretary-general, during which they exchanged views on China-UN cooperation, the situation on the Korean Peninsula, the Syria crisis, the Afghanistan issue and hot spot issues in Africa.

It is Ban's 10th visit to China. After his stay in Beijing, he will visit Hangzhou and Suzhou in east China.
